After School Children's Art Classes at Spectrum Gallery
Registration is now open for new after school art programs at Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook for children ages 7-11.
Creating Holiday Gifts for Special People is a 5 week class being offered 3:30 - 4:30 pm on either Wednesdays or Thursdays starting November 6th or 7th. Why not create unique, one-of-kind, handmade artwork as gifts for friends and family this holiday season? These will be gifts made from your heart and saved for years to come. In this 5-week “play-shop” children will design handmade cards, as well as use a variety of mediums to make art for gift-giving. From drawing and painting to jewelry making and sculpture, children will create art to give as special gifts this holiday season but also make this hectic time easier for parents too. Happy Holidays!
Drawing and Painting is also being offered 4:45-5:45 pm, on Wednesday or Thursday starting November 6th or 7th, for 5 weeks. All levels welcome! In this class, students practice drawing and painting from life as well as from the imagination. They explore various mediums such as watercolor and acrylics and the tools & techniques associated with each of these mediums. In drawing students learn about traditional practices, such as contour drawing, brush-play, and still-life, while also exploring experimental methods, such as abstract art. Please bring a 9”x12” Sketchbook to the first class.
