New Summer Chamber Music Workshop in Old Lyme
Soundscapes Chamber Music Workshop (SCMW) is now accepting applications for its first season, June 26-30, 2017. SCMW is a week-long intensive workshop for string players age 11-18 and is hosted on the campus of Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, CT.
The goal of the workshop is to celebrate the joy of music-making in a supportive environment that inspires musical and personal growth. Participants will be grouped by ability into small groups and will work intensively on a piece of chamber music. Students will receive coachings from five accomplished professional musicians including Sophie and Josie Davis, Jaime Feldman, Jesse Holstein and Colin Wheatley--all graduates of Oberlin Conservatory of Music. The week will culminate in a free public performance for family and friends.
The schedule is 9 AM to 4 PM with an hour break for lunch. Three hours of daily rehearsal and coaching will be balanced with fiddle jams, art workshops, group discussions and outside games and activities. This five-day program is open to individual violin, viola, cello, and bass students and pre-formed ensembles.
Tuition is $400 and scholarship assistance is available. For further information regarding the application process, please visit soundscapeschambermusicworkshop.com or call Program Director, Josie Davis at 207.380.6069.
