Mission Team Heads to Indian Reservation
The Mission Team from North Haven Congregational Church will be leaving for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation (CRST) in La Plant, South Dakota on Saturday, July 16th, for a week long mission trip to serve the community living there. In an area of 1.45 million acres (roughly the size of Connecticut), the CRST Reservation is home to fewer than 9,000 residents. The poverty there is staggering. The reasons are many and complex. But we are proud to say that a group of us will be going out there to help! We will be working on construction projects, running a Summer Camp for the children, and building community with the Elders. We will be bringing glimpses of hope to a hopeless environment.
We are hoping that members from the community can partner with us in this journey. We are having a Panera Bread Fundraiser at Panera Bread, 132 Universal Drive, North Haven on Thursday, July 14th, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. If you would like to participate, please contact Debi Mastroni-Kenyon at debra.mastroni@gmail.com so she can send you a flyer or provide more information. Any other donations can be sent directly to the church at 28 Church Street, North Haven, CT 06473, marked "Mission Trip Donation".
