FATHER AND DAUGHTER TEAM UP TO CLEAN UP
Armed with a passion for exploration time together in the forest, and disturbed by the sight of trash scattered about, father and daughter, Eric and Marlah Hohlfelder, spent the beautiful Saturday of Memorial Day weekend together cleaning up Rockland Road hauling out a truck load of trash. Eric is aware Guilford is considering installing a gate to close off this road due to the deposit of trash and late night adolescent parties. He recently had conversations with Guilford town engineer Mr. James Portley and Lieutenant Robinson of Guilford police encouraging they please consider other options. Eric suggested posting a "Closed After Sunset" sign, among other things, at the road entrance thus providing our police with something to enforce. This is one of our original town roads, unimproved, unmaintained, unserviced passing through a beautiful forest connecting Guilford and Madison. It provides a special opportunity for families to take a back country off pavement drive together. If you enjoy having the option to explore this area we encourage you to contact mentioned officials before an iron gate shuts the door to all of us.
