This is Martha.  I thank you for keeping tabs on us and following along with our journey.  A big shout out to KAILIN GARRITY for managing to do the writing for our team for the entire trip from her blackberry in our van which, at most times, felt about equal to four-wheeling through miles of potholes!  No easy task!

I think in summary I would have to say that although this trip had many unexpected challenges, it has truly been incredibly successful and filled with great memories and life changing moments - - for all.  The Ugandan people are some of the most welcoming in the world.  When driving for hours along remote roads and coming by local trading centers, homes and marketplaces, people just wait for the opportunity to smile and wave to a passersby.  They welcome the opportunity to make a connection, a human connection.  It is so refreshing and poignant. 

We have successfully delivered 11 “goody bags” filled with medical supplies to schools, clinics and hospitals. Thank you to everyone back home who contributed to these.  We have also visited schools and orphanages we currently support, as well and dropping by a few new ones along the way.  We were able to celebrate with the people of the K.A.C.C.O. project in Kaberamaido District (the children’s center we are building together) and give thanks for all the hope that this will be in the future.  We visited two of the six new sites that will be receiving borehole wells thanks to a partnership with Rotary International and the Madison, Stamford, Branford and North Branford clubs in Connecticut.

Being able to bring hope to those we work with and all the children we are helping was a true blessing.  And, coming home so filled up with all the love they have shared with us – brilliantly good stuff!  That is what this work is all about.  Reaching out to others and being received so we can work together in relationships that are based on love - -the joy that comes from that is truly contagious.
