Report from Uganda: Day 1

We visited an orphanage called The Chain Foundation that is located in the district of Mukono. We were greated by the children and staff with song and authentic Ugandan dance. In return we deposited an extremely large box of medical supplies and stocked up nurse Dorthy's cabinet to overflowing! We also brought two guitars with us that we gave the children (one broke in transit but it might be salvagable). This orphanage also cares for thirty seven blind children, one of which played us a gorgeous song.. so musically talented. There have been so many changes and improvements to this orphanage since Martha visited there for the first time in 2006. The support and love from St. Andrew's church in Madison is so appreciated. The rest of the day was spent playing and singing with the children and taking a tour around their compound. Even though its a place full of love these children have little to nothing and are given one bin to keep their belongings in. It was really hard to say goodbye but good to know we'll get to go back and be with them again at the end of our trip.
