North Haven’s D10 and D12 Cheerleading Teams Crowned State Champions

The North Haven D12 and D10 Competition Cheerleading Teams were both crowned first place at the State Cheer Championship held at Mohegan Sun on Nov. 2. The D12 team had a strong performance against six other very competitive teams in the state. Both teams are now scheduled to compete at the Regional level on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Tsongas Center at UMass in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Head Coach of the D12 team is Erin Boyle, alongside assistant coaches Shari Cretella, Corey D’Angelo, and Nicole Fitzgerald. The team is comprised of Madelyn Corcoran, Molly Corcoran, Lia Costa, Stella D’Angelo, Victoria DeSimone, Ally Fitzgerald, Jess Fitzgerald, Kaylie Mancini, Lea Quinones, and Cecelia Warsawski.

Head Coach of the D10 team is Jenn Hettrick, alongside assistant coaches Lindsay Capozzo and Bree DeFrancesco. The team is comprised of Grace Botarelli, Giuliana Capozzo, Catalina Colon, Madison Cretella, Violet Danis, Charlotte DeFrancesco, Madelyn Gherman, Cora Gilmore, Natalia Grogan, Sadie Hettrick, Jocelyn Kenyon, and Abigail Schwab.

These teams worked hard to place first and have been practicing three nights a week since mid-July. Practice makes perfect, and these cheer teams have proven that hard work pays off. If the teams place first, second, or third at Regionals, they will go on to compete at the National level in Florida in December.

The coaches, parents, and the entire North Haven Youth Football and Cheerleading program are extremely proud of these young athletes and their contribution to the strong competitive cheerleading program that North Haven has.
