The Morgan girls’ soccer team hosted Waterford on Oct. 15 and ended in a 1-1 tie. Rachel Spaziano scored for the Huskies, and Lili Novicki recorded three saves.
On Oct. 19, the team played host to Bethel and took a 3-1 loss. Sadie Passante scored for Morgan, and it was assisted by Spaziano. Novicki recorded two saves.
On Oct. 21, the Huskies hosted Guilford and tied 1-1. Passante scored, and the goal was assisted by Spaziano. Novicki recorded three saves.
Morgan closed out the regular season on Oct. 23, traveling to Haddam-Killingworth and winning 3-0. Goals were scored by Kate Gardner, Passante, and Rachel Spaziano (penalty kick). Novicki had two saves in goal.
Passante, Gardner, and Spaziano were all named to the All-Conference First Team this fall. Cora Deming and Riley Febbroriello were Second Team athletes, and Ainsley Lyon was an Honorable Mention.
Boys’ Soccer
The Morgan boys’ soccer team hosted Amistad on Oct. 17 and won 5-1. Goals were scored by Edyn Ortiz assisted by Jonny Gutierrez, Emiliano Miranda assisted by Ortiz, Andrew Randi (two) assisted by Gutierrez and Ortiz, and Mark Rodriguez assisted by Cinar Yucel. Liam Totten recorded seven saves in goal.
On Oct. 21, the Huskies closed out the regular season with a 2-2 tie on the road vs. Haddam-Killingworth.
Morgan then faced Old Saybrook at home on Oct. 27 in the semifinals of the Shoreline Conference Tournament and fell 3-2.
The Huskies opened up the Class S State Tournament as the No. 4 seed. After receiving a bye in the first round, Morgan hosted No. 20 Oxford in the second round on Nov. 5 and won 5-0. Goals for Morgan were scored by Nate Kinser (three) assisted by Gutierrez (two) and Esteban Orozco, Orozco assisted by Gutierrez, and Aidan Campion on a penalty kick. Liam Totten recorded three saves in goal.
In the quarterfinals on Nov. 8, Morgan played host to No. 21 Coginchaug and won 5-2. Goals were scored by Miranda (unassisted), Gutierrez (two) assisted by Austin LaMonaca and Totten, Orozco assisted by Miranda, and Kinser assisted by Gutierrez. Totten recorded three saves.
Totten was named Goalie of the Year for the Shoreline Conference and to the All-Conference First Team. Gutierrez and Emiliano Miranda were also First Team athletes. Cinar Yucel and Orozco earned spots on the Second Team, and Nathan Kinser was an Honorable Mention.
Volleyball
The Morgan volleyball team traveled to Valley Regional on Oct. 15 and fell 3-1. Karla Dugue had six kills, and Alyssa Ruthstrom had 17 digs. Paige Monty added 13 digs, and Avery Vece had 10. Vece also had 12 assists.
The next day, the team hosted North Branford and took a 3-0 loss. Emma Teuner had three total blocks in the contest. Cora Dunham had 12 digs, Ruthstrom had 12, and Ava Ruotolo had 11. Vece had 13 assists.
On Oct. 18, the Huskies hosted Hale Ray and lost 3-0. Monty had six kills, while Dunham and Ruthstrom each had 10 digs.
Morgan closed out its regular season on the road on Oct. 21, traveling to East Haven and winning 3-0. Monty had eight kills, while Ruthstrom had seven aces and 15 digs. Vece added 14 assists.
On Oct. 24 in the Shoreline Conference Tournament, Morgan traveled to Haddam-Killingworth and lost 3-0. Dunham had 10 digs, and Vece had nine assists.
The Huskies opened the Class S State Tournament as the No. 23 seed, traveling to No. 10 Canton in the first round on Nov. 4 and falling 3-0.
Teuner was named to the All-Shoreline Conference Second Team this fall, and Ruthstrom was an Honorable Mention.
Field Hockey
Izzy Lee and Julia Shove were named to the All-Shoreline Conference First Team for Morgan field hockey. Molly O’Donnell and Olivia Siciliano were Second Team athletes, and Lyla Striby was an Honorable Mention.
