Football Takes a Loss, Girls’ Soccer Records a Win

Girls’ Soccer

Valley girls’ soccer traveled to Haddam-Killingworth on Oct. 9 and won 6-2. Ella Smith scored two goals, Makaylah Spencer scored two, and Peyton Mcintyre and Madelyn Reibold each scored one. Sara Delouchry had three assists, and Spencer had two.

Volleyball

The Valley volleyball team hit the road to Portland on Oct. 7 and won 3-0. Rubee Cecchini had 13 kills, and Regan Grow had 11. Kellyn Kolber had nine aces, while Cecchini had eight digs, and Hallie Moore had seven. Kolber had 33 assists.

The Warriors then traveled to East Hampton on Oct. 9 and won 3-0. Grow had 15 kills, and Nia Marchese had 13. Moore had 22 digs, Cecchini had 13, and Marchese had 11. Kolber had 33 assists.

The next day, Valley hosted Cromwell and earned a 3-0 victory. Grow and Marchese had 10 kills each, and Cecchini had six aces, while Marchese had five. Cecchini had 14 digs, and Moore had 11. Kolber added 26 assists.

Boys’ Soccer

The Valley boys’ soccer team hosted Haddam-Killingworth on Oct. 8 and fell 2-0. Kenny Batt recorded five saves.

On Oct. 10, the team traveled to Portland and recorded a 1-1 tie. Tucker Norton scored the Warriors goal, and it was assisted by Tyler Benson. Batt recorded five saves in net.

The Warriors ended the week the next day at Griswold, where they earned a 3-0 win. Goals were scored by Gavin Abderhalden, Nathan Crown, and Birch Whitbeck. Patrick Finnegan and Jack McPherson each recorded an assist, while Batt had four saves.

Football

On Oct. 5, Valley/Old Lyme football traveled to Capital Prep and lost 35-26. Giovanni Winters threw three touchdown passes and picked up 254 passing yards. Max Novak added a rushing touchdown, and Tommy Troy had 34 rushing yards. Troy also added two receiving touchdowns, and Cameron Atkinson had one.
