Girls’ Swimming Takes a Loss, Volleyball Wins a Pair
Girls’ Swimming and Diving
The North Haven girls’ swimming and diving team traveled to Guilford on Sept. 30 and fell 90-84.
In the 200 medley relay, the team of Giada Garofalo, Angelina Valentino, Kelsey Perkins, and Amelia Bautz took third place in a time of 2:19.81. The team of Tessa Boisseau, Reese Tesla, Abigail Ray, and Mars McCann took fourth (2:52.78). In the 200 meter freestyle, Cosma Gregg took fourth (2:36.35), Abigail Lorusso claimed fifth (2:36.36), and Kaili Wan took sixth (2:56.57). In the 200 individual medley (IM), Garofalo placed second (2:38.73), Scarlett Russek took fifth (3:08.11), and Avery Cullen (3:09.18) placed sixth.
Bautz came in fourth in the 50 freestyle (30.61), Valentino came in fifth (33.31), and Ray placed sixth (34.54). Riley Mattox (174.00) took second in the one meter dive, while Else Roosevelt placed third (150.70). Destiny Wininger took fourth in that event (124.85). In the 100 butterfly, Perkins placed second (1:11.49), and Andrea Laborde placed fifth (1:23.75). Lorusso (1:09.17) took fourth in the 100 freestyle, followed by Boisseau in fifth (1:13.74). Valentino earned a sixth place finish (1:14.07). Garofalo also took second in the 500 freestyle (6:06.46).
The 200 relay team of Roosevelt, Russek, Lorusso, and Boisseau won with a time of 2:13.55. Ray, McCann, Payton Erodici, and Brigette Perez-Carreto came in second (2:43.12). In the 100 backstroke, Laborde placed first (1:24.11). Wan placed second (1:29.37), and Cullen placed third (1:30.20). In the 100 breaststroke, Perkins came in first (1:28.75), Bautz took second (1:28.89), and Gregg placed third (1:30.52). In the 400 relay, Garofalo, Laborde, Perkins, and Bautz placed first (4:45.97). Russek, Lorusso, Valentino, and Cullen placed second (5:05.89).
Volleyball
On Sept. 30, the North Haven volleyball team hosted Jonathan Law and won 3-0. Alyssa DiGiovanna had nine kills in the contest. Lucia Cavaliere had 12 digs, and DiGiovanna had 11. Danielle Dixon and Kailyn Gilmore had 10 assists each.
Two days later, the team traveled to Daniel Hand and won 3-1. Ella Couture had six kills, and Bianca Watts and DiGiovanna each had five.Olivia Jagiello had seven aces, and Dixon had nine assists.
The Nighthawks ended the week at home on Oct. 4, hosting Lauralton Hall and falling 3-0. DiGiovanna had 10 kills and nine digs in the contest. Dixon added 15 assists.
Boys’ Soccer
The North Haven boys’ soccer team traveled to Career/Hillhouse on Oct. 1 and won 6-2. Jack Notaro scored three goals, and Charlie Daniele, Liam McBride, and Jett Rosekopf each scored one. Assists were credited to Kevin Parker, Aiden Oliveira, Notaro, Hayden Minns, Braden Cohen, Russell Collins, and Rosekopf (two).
On Oct. 5, the team hosted Notre Dame-West Haven and took a 3-1 loss. Joey Solimene scored the lone goal for the Nighthawks, and it was assisted by Notaro.
