Boys’ Cross Country, Girls’ Cross Country Shine at Divisional Meet
Girls’ Cross Country
The Guilford girls’ cross country team competed in the SCC Divisional Championship at the Guilford Fairgrounds on Oct. 2. The girls won the Hammonasset Division, with sophomore Olivia Jackson placing second with a time of 19:31, followed by junior Ciara Davenport placing fourth with a time of 20:19. Freshman Kaylin Diglio finished in sixth with a time of 21:33, directly followed by sophomore Sienna Brackney in seventh place with a time of 21:34. Rounding out the top five was senior Agnes Batters in eighth place with a time of 21:41.
Boys’ Cross Country
The Guilford boys’ cross country team competed at the SCC Divisional Championships on Oct. 2 at the Guilford Fairgrounds and secured its 10th straight division title and 28th out of 30 years in the conference. Guilford was first place with 24 points, followed by Hand with 31, then Law with 97, Foran with 112, and Hillhouse with 127 points.
The team was led by freshman Jackson Gould, who placed second in 16:47. Next up was sophomore Lewis Thoreen in third place in 16:52. Sophomores Jordan Espinosa, Luca Esposito-Langlais, and David Zhang rounded out the top five in 17:11, 17:26, and 17:43, respectively.
