New Haven Elks Lodge Hoop Shoot
New Haven Elks Lodge No. 25 Hoop Shoot will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the North Haven Park and Recreation, 7 Linsley Street, North Haven, CT 06473. The event will take place from 8 a.m to noon. The Elks National Hoop Shoot is a free, free-throw program for children ages 8-13. 8 and 9-year-olds will attend from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., and 10 and 11-year-olds will go from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The time slot for 12 and 13-year-olds is 11 a.m. to noon.
The competition starts at the lodge level, and the first place winners will then proceed to the district level, state level, regional level in Maine, and finally the national level in Chicago.
Youth ages 8-13 are invited to compete in three age groups, 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13, with girls and boys competing separately. Participants can only compete at one lodge contest per year. Then, they must win at each level along the way before stamping a ticket to the National Finals.
Six national champions will have their names and photographs displayed at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.
