Girls’ Soccer Loses Twice, Football Wins Season Opener

Volleyball

Valley volleyball hosted North Branford on Sept. 9 and won 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-21).

Two days later, the team traveled to Coginchaug and earned a 3-0 victory.

The Warriors ended the week vs. Portland on Sept. 13 and won 3-0.

Boys’ Soccer

The Valley boys’ soccer team traveled to Morgan on Sept. 9 and took a 4-1 loss. Jack McPherson scored the lone Warriors goal, and it was assisted by Nathan Crown. Kenny Batt recorded 17 saves in goal.

The team then hosted Cromwell on Sept. 12 and won 3-2. Patrick Finnegan scored with an assist from McPherson.Tucker Norton scored the second goal following a corner kick by Owen Ingram. The game-winner came with two minutes to go from Norton with the assist from Crown. Batt finished the game with 11 saves.

Girls’ Soccer

Valley girls’ soccer hosted Morgan on Sept. 10 and fell 3-2. Ella Smith and Makaylah Spencer each recorded a goal and an assist, and Emma Reilly recorded 20 saves in net.

Two days later, the Warriors hit the road to Cromwell and lost 4-1.

Field Hockey

On Sept. 10, Valley field hockey played host to Morgan and lost 1-0.

Three days later, the Warriors hosted Westbrook/Lyme-Old Lyme and fell 2-0.

Valley ended the week at home vs. Somers on Sept. 14, when the Warriors took a 2-0 loss.

Football

Valley/Old Lyme football hit the road to Morgan-Westbrook-Old Saybrook for the season opener on Sept. 13 and won 23-13.
