Football
The H-K football team traveled to Capital Prep on Sept. 13 for its season opener and fell 19-13. For the Cougars (0-1), Jamien Evans threw touchdown passes of 11 and 31 yards to Josh Frith and Joe Slane, respectively. Frith also had an interception for H-K.
Capital Prep got out to a 19-0 lead by early in the third quarter, but the Cougars fought back with two third-quarter touchdowns to cut the lead to one score. From that point, both teams played tough defense to prevent further scoring, and H-K came up just short in its comeback bid.
“This game was a tale of two halves,” said H-K Head Coach Tyler Wilcox. “The team showed its heart in the second half. We just have to find a way to get over the hump. Now, the first game is over, and we move on.”

Three days later, the Cougars hit the road to Morgan and fell 3-0. Ethan Pitts recorded five saves in goal.
