Girls’ Soccer, Field Hockey Split the Week
Girls’ Soccer
The North Haven girls’ soccer team traveled to Lauralton Hall on Sep. 3 for the first game of the season and won 5-1. In the first half, Nighthawks goals were scored by Olivia Ranciato (assisted by Gia Giaimo), Giaimo (assisted by Eva Hall), and Leila Sweet (unassisted). Goalkeeper Alivia Garnett had two saves.
In the second half, Ranciato scored her second goal of the game (assisted by Hall), and Ava Tarasuk (assisted by Hall) scored the team’s final goal. Addison Whitcomb also recorded four saves in net.
On Sep. 7, the team hosted Mercy and took a 4-0 loss.
Boys’ Soccer
North Haven boys’ soccer opened the season on Sep. 3, hosting Lyman Hall and winning 5-1. Jack Notaro scored two goals and recorded an assist. Jett Roskopf had a goal assisted by Jace Matthew, while Aiden Oliveria scored a goal and assisted on another. Oguzhan Turkan scored a goal, and Hayden Minns and Charlie Danielle both had assists.
Field Hockey
Nighthawks field hockey opened the season at home vs. Fitch on Sep. 3 and took a 5-1 loss.
On Sep. 6, the team hosted Windsor and won 1-0.
Volleyball
On Sep. 3, North Haven girls’ volleyball hosted Hamden to begin the season and won 3-0.
The team then traveled to Sacred Heart Academy on Sep. 5 and fell 3-1. Alyssa DiGiovanna and Lucia Cavaliere had seven kills each, while Ella Couture had two, and Elena Alexandro had one. Couture also recorded four blocks, and Alyssa Ferriouolo had 10 digs. Danielle Dixon had 11 assists.
