Brian White, Head Coach of the Guilford High School Grizzlies boys’ lacrosse team, reached a career milestone of 200 wins on May 7, when his team defeated Southington High School 14-13. White and the Grizzlies finished out the season with additional wins against Lyman Hall, East Lyme, Bethel, and twice against Daniel Hand High School, increasing his record to 205 wins. This placed White as the 19th winningest coach of all-time in Connecticut and 269th in the United States. The Grizzlies finished their season at 15-5, losing to Fairfield Ludlowe in the Class L State quarterfinals.

White started as an assistant coach in 2003 and ascended into the head coach position in 2005. Since that time, White has received numerous accolades, including US Lacrosse Coach of the Year (CT) in 2019; CIAC Class M Coach of the Year in 2009, 2012, 2013, and 2019; SCC Division 1 Coach of the Year in 2019; the George Curry Coach of the Year in 2015; The Connecticut High School Coaches Association (CHSCA) Outstanding Coach of the Year in 2015; and the Lacrosse Coach of the Year by New Haven Register in 2013.

White just completed his inaugural season as the head coach of the Guilford varsity football team last fall and was recognized as the 2023 SCC Tier 3 Football Coach of the Year. He is also acknowledged as a favorite educator, teaching Social Studies at GHS for the past 20 years.

Athletes recognized this season for lacrosse were Academic All-American Andrew Brysh, First Team All-State athlete Tyler Hilgert, and Second Team All-State athletes Matthew Konareski, Braden DePetris, and Jacob Corso.

The Guilford boys’ lacrosse team is forecasted to have a record-setting number of players in 2025, handily filling freshman, junior varsity, and varsity rosters to be led by captains Ryan Gribbon, Jonah Labbadia-Colon, and Michael Lawton.
