In an impressive display of speed, Country School students Luke Schupp and Tillie Killam blazed their way to victory at the New Balance and the Nike Indoor Track Championships this winter, showcasing their talent against national competition.

An eighth grader from Madison, Schupp burst into the lead at the Nike Championships in New York with a personal record time in the mile of 4:56. He secured first place from Connecticut, ranking 10th in the Northeast and 25th in the United States for his age.

A perennial All-American runner in cross country and track, seventh grader Killam, from Madison, ran a personal best 5:35 mile time at the New Balance Indoor Championship in Boston, finishing first in Connecticut, fifth in the Northeast, and 11th for her age in the United States.

Running for Litchfield Track Club’s Racing Team, Schupp and Killam’s success is thanks to their dedication and hard work. Under the guidance of their Country School coaches in Adriana Castillo, Will McDonough, and John Fixx, both Schupp and Killam continue to improve their speed and stamina and push themselves to new heights.

Schupp and Killam also trained for the Connecticut State Track Championships in the spring, where they aimed to continue their impressive performances and further solidify their place among the nation's best middle school runners.

Schupp and Killam are not only impressive runners. They are top academic students, multi-sport athletes, and musicians who continue to chase their dreams and inspire younger athletes.
