Branford Girls’ Outdoor Track Sets Records at State Open
Branford girls’ track had several girls compete in the State Open Championship. Lucy Moran set a new school record in the 800, placing fourth with a time of 2:12.88. Joelle Budz took 14th place in the 300 hurdles (47.42), and she set a new school record in the 200 meters when she placed 20th with a time of 25.95. Ella Stone placed 22nd in the triple jump (31’9.5”). The 4x400 team set a new school record with a 13th place finish (4:07.13). This squad was comprised of Budz, Djamilla Toukour, Glorianna Buckley, and Moran.
Moran also competed in the 800 at New Englands and took third with a time of 2:13.57.
“Very impressed with the three school records at the State Open; they performed at their best in the biggest meet of the year,” said Head Coach Kevin Connell. “This has been an exciting group to watch all season. Lucy ran a terrific race at New Englands to finish third. She was right in the race from the start.”
