Softball Falls in State Tournament, Outdoor Track Has Several All-Conference Athletes

Softball

The Hand softball team opened up Class L State Tournament action on May 28 as the No. 24 seed. In the opening round, the Tigers traveled to No. 9 Mercy and fell 9-3. Danielle Phelan drove in two runs for Hand, and Grace Hall drove in one. Lexi Guerrette, Taylor Ferraiolo, Reese Ciecko, and Alexa Young all recorded a hit.

On the mound, Hall pitched six innings, giving up six earned runs, five walks, and striking out three batters.

Boys’ Outdoor Track

Several Hand boys’ outdoor track athletes were named to the All-Conference Team for their efforts this spring. Kyle Hoffman earned a spot on the First Team for his performance in the 400 meters (48.06). The 4x400 relay team of John Daniels, Nathaniel Kraft, Aedan Virgulto, and Hoffman also landed a spot on the First Team (3:20.09). Matthew Kasper (22-00.50) earned a spot on the Second Team for the long jump, and he was named to the Second Team for the triple jump (45-11.50).

Girls’ Outdoor Track

Alexis Kuszpa was named to the All-SCC Conference Second Team for her performance in the pole vault (9-06).

Boys’ Volleyball

Hand’s Hanley Tapia was named to the All-SCC Second Team for his contributions to the boys’ volleyball team this spring.
