The North Haven High School Athletic Department is excited to announce the appointment of Taylor DePalma as the new head coach for the North Haven High School girls’ volleyball program.

An East Haven native, DePalma brings a wealth of experience in athletics and education, coupled with a holistic coaching philosophy that promises to enhance the overall development of student-athletes.

DePalma’s athletic journey began in East Haven, where she participated in a range of sports and AAU programs from a young age. During her high school years, she lettered in both softball and volleyball. Under the long-term mentorship of Head Coach Craig Brown, her contributions as a middle hitter helped the team secure an Oronoque Division title.

DePalma continued her volleyball career at Albertus Magnus College in the GNAC division, under Head Coach Omar Ramirez. DePalma began her coaching journey after college for the Connecticut (CT) Juniors Volleyball Association. There, she coached athletes of various ages and abilities.

“We are very excited to have Coach DePalma lead our girls’ volleyball program,” North Haven Athletic Director Steve Blumenthal stated. “Coach DePalma has the knowledge, the experience, and the enthusiasm to help bring the North Haven girls’ volleyball program to new heights.”

Beyond her athletic achievements, DePalma has dedicated the past five years to teaching fifth and sixth grade math at Bishop Woods School in New Haven. She holds a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Bridgeport and is currently seeking to pursue a sixth year degree in Educational Leadership. Her dual roles as an educator and coach allow her to connect with students on multiple levels, fostering an environment of growth and development.

DePalma currently resides in Branford and is thrilled to bring her coaching philosophy that emphasizes a holistic approach to the student-athletes of North Haven.

“I believe in developing not just the athlete, but the whole person,” DePalma said. “It’s important that my students and players excel academically, socially, and physically. My goal is to equip them with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in all areas of their lives.”
