The North Haven baseball team began the SCC Tournament at Guilford on May 20 and won 6-4 in come-from-behind fashion. The Nighthawks scored four runs in the seventh inning in the victory. Luca Faulkner hit an RBI single in the contest, and in the big seventh inning, North Haven scored four runs. These were highlighted by a Max Cargan single that tied the game at four and a Nick Romano two-RBI single that gave the Nighthawks a 6-4 lead.
The next day, the team traveled to Daniel Hand in the semifinals and lost 5-1. Romano recorded a double in the loss.
Additionally, Cargan, James Tobin, and Justin Gouin all earned First Team All-SCC honors.
Softball
North Haven softball hosted Lauralton Hall in the first round of the conference tournament on May 20 and won 12-0.
The next day, the Nighthawks traveled to Sheehan in the semifinals and earned a 2-0 victory. Isabella Blanchard hit a double and drove in both runs for North Haven. Also recording hits in the contest were Gabriella Blanchard (one), Alexandra Anquillare (one), Alyssa Ferriouolo (two), and Alyssa DiGiovanna (one).
Gabriella Blanchard took the mound for the Nighthawks. She pitched seven innings and gave up four hits and zero earned runs. She also struck out four batters.
In the championship game on May 23, North Haven traveled to Cheshire and fell 7-2. Avery Berney recorded a hit and drove in a run for the Nighthawks. Ferriouolo, Isabella Blanchard, and DiGiovanna also recorded a hit each. Gabriella Blanchard pitched one inning and gave up one hit and zero earned runs. Reece Hebert threw five innings, giving up 10 hits and one earned run. She also struck out four batters.
Anquillare and Ferriouolo earned spots on the First Team All-SCC Team. Emelia Brandi and DiGiovanna were named to the Second Team.
Boys’ Lacrosse
Alex Gaetano, Ben Pizzano, and Christian Mongillo earned spots on the All-SCC Tier 2 team for North Haven boys’ lacrosse.
Girls’ Tennis
The All-SCC girls’ tennis teams were recently announced. Sophia Padro earned a spot on the Second Team for singles, and Chandler Morris and Samantha Ide were named to the Second Team for doubles.
