Golf Wins Twice, Girls’ Lacrosse Splits the Week

The Morgan golf team traveled to the Wildcat Invitational in Norwich on May 6 and finished 12 out of 15 teams. Jack Nye scored an 83 on the course, Patrick O’Neil scored an 88, Kolby Clifton earned a 91, Sean Davis recorded a 98, and Tyler Baldwin earned a 104.
On May 8, the team hosted East Hampton and won 180-187. Nye led the way with a 40, followed by O’Neil with a 45. Clifton scored a 47, Luke McComiskey earned a 48, and Robert Bergman recorded a 51.
The Huskies closed out the week at Old Lyme on May 9 and earned a 189-203 victory. Nye’s 40 was the leading score for Morgan, and Davis followed with a 49. O’Neil and McComiskey both scored a 50, and Bergman finished with a 52.
Girls’ Lacrosse
Morgan girls’ lacrosse traveled to Haddam-Killingworth on May 6 and won 8-6. Maeve Madura scored six goals, including her 200th career goal. Emma Holecz had one goal and three assists, and Issy Lee added one goal. Emma Champagne recorded two assists, and Ashley Reemsnyder had one assist. Annabell Parent recorded 11 saves in net. Madura had five draw controls, and Holecz had three.
The next day, the team traveled to North Branford and took a 15-5 loss. Madura scored four goals, Champagne scored one goal, and Reemsnyder added one assist. Parent recorded 17 saves in goal, and Madura had three draw controls. Emely Andino had two draw controls.
On May 9, the Huskies played host to Old Saybrook and lost 12-8. Goal scorers for Morgan included Madura (four), Ava Schmidt (two), and Holecz (two). Parent had 12 saves in the loss, and Madura had six draw controls.
The team ended the week at Griswold/Norwich Tech on May 11 and won 14-4. Goal scorers included Holecz (four goals, two assists), Madura (three goals, one assist), Reemsnyder (two goals), Schmidt (two goals), Lee (one goal), Andino (one goal), and Molly O'Donnell (one goal). Parent recorded 11 saves in net. Holecz collected eight draw controls, Madura had four, and Andino had one.
