Boys’ Basketball, Boys’ Ice Hockey Fall in State Tournament


Boys’ Basketball

After receiving a bye in the first round of the Division V State Tournament as the No. 4 seed, H-K boys’ basketball hosted No. 20 Stafford in the second round on March 7 and fell 61-49. Blake Kamoen recorded a double-double, with 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Andrew Crayton recorded 10 points and six assists. Other offensive contributors included Spencer Savoy (four points), Luke Mauri (four points), Jay Evans (nine points), and Cody Robinson (six points).

The Cougars ended the regular season 14-6 and advanced to the Shoreline Conference semifinals and second round of states. H-K saw a winning record for only the fifth time in the last two decades.

Boys’ Ice Hockey

The Rocky Hill Co-op boys’ ice hockey team entered the Division III State Tournament as the No. 9 seed. In the first round on March 4, the team faced No. 8 Wilton and won 4-1.

In the quarterfinals on March 7, the team faced top-seeded Bethel/Brookfield/Danbury/Immaculate and fell 5-2.

Girls’ Ice Hockey

The Hand girls’ ice hockey co-op team had a bye in the first round of the SCC Tournament as the No. 2 seed. In the semifinals on Feb. 21, the team faced No. 3 Hamden Co-op and fell 4-1.

The team then entered the state tournament as the No. 8 seed, where they fell 7-5 vs. No. 9 Hamden Co-op in the first round on Feb. 26.
