The East Haven Co-op boys’ ice hockey team hosted Hamden on Feb. 26 and won 6-2. The Yellowjackets scored four goals in the first period. John D’Albero opened it up, with an unassisted score. Lorenzo Defilio then scored two goals, with the first one assisted by Robert Testa and Landon Cantele, and the second one assisted by Testa. Mike Savo then added a goal of his own, with Cantele on the assist.

In the second period, Preston Cantele found the net, with Nick Perillo on the assist. Landon Cantele then knocked in a Power Play goal, and it was assisted by Mike Fritz. Fritz manned the net for the Yellowjackets, allowing two goals on 20 saves.

Morgan boys’ basketball hosted Old Lyme in the Shoreline Conference semifinals on Feb. 27, earning a 56-49 win. Key contributors included Patrick O’Neil with 19 points, and Ryan Donadio with 18 points. Robby Estabrook added four points, Kolby Clifton added two points, Jack Nye scored nine points, and Mason Krott scored four points.

The Morgan girls’ basketball team hosted Hale Ray in the Shoreline Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Feb. 17 and won in commanding fashion, 63-19. Ava Johnson led the way with 21 points, followed by Emma Teuner with 13. Other offensive contributors included Olivia Ruotolo (one point), AJ Luke (three points), Sadie Passante (four points), Maeve Madura (nine points), Liliana Luciani (four points), Victoria O’Neill (six points), and Alana Zirlis (two points).

In the semifinals on Feb. 20, second-seeded Morgan hosted No. 6 Haddam-Killingworth and won 62-32. Johnson’s 22 points helped fuel the victory, followed by double-digit scorers Teuner (14 points), Passante (10 points), and Madura (10 points). O’Neill (four points), and Zirlis (two points) also contributed.

The Huskies faced top-seeded East Hampton in the finals on Feb. 23, losing 62-44.

As the No. 8 seed, Morgan had a bye in the first round of the Class M State Tournament. In the second round on Feb. 29, the team hosted No. 9 Kolbe Cathedral and fell 61-51.
