Boys’ Basketball Has a Tough Week, Boys’ Ice Hockey Wins Twice


Boys’ Basketball

The Valley boys’ basketball team traveled to Morgan on Feb. 12 and lost 61-41. Noah Dolinsky led the way with 16 points, followed by Rex Grabowski with 13. Conor Quinn (eight points), Paul Giantonio (two points), and Owen Livingston (two points) also contributed.

On Feb. 14, the team hosted Fitch and lost 83-56. Grabowski’s 23 points fueled the offensive fire power for the Warriors, and Dolinsky scored nine points. Other point scorers in the contest included Quinn (eight points), Jack Driscoll (two points), Olivia Cunningham (four points), and Thomas Troy (four points).

The Warriors closed out the week hosting Harding on Feb. 16, and they lost 57-39. Quinn scored 15 points, and Grabowski scored 11. Other offensive contributors were Driscoll (six points), Cunningham (two points), Dolinsky (two points), and Max Nickel (two points).

Boys’ Ice Hockey

The East Haven Co-op boys’ ice hockey team traveled to Watertown-Pomperaug on Feb. 14 and won 3-0. Griffin McGlinchey scored two goals in the first period, with both scores assisted by Lorenzo Defilio. John D’Albero was also credited with an assist on the second goal. In the second frame, Mike Savo scored, and he was assisted by Landon Cantele and Nick Perillo. Mike Fritz earned the shutout in net, recording 28 saves.

The team then traveled to North Haven on Feb. 17 and earned a big 7-1 victory. Defilio started off the scoring for the Yellowjackets in the first period with an unassisted score. D’Albero then scored a Power Play goal, assisted by Defilio and Preston Cantele.

In the second frame, Landon Cantele knocked in a score, and Perillo assisted on it. East Haven had a big third period, going off for four goals. These were scored by Defilio (assisted by Carter McGlinchey and Preston Cantele). Mike Ballough (assisted by Savo), Preston Cantele (unassisted). and D’Albero (assisted by Griffin McGlinchey). Fritz allowed one goal in net, while recording 14 saves.
