Wrestling Continues to Dominate While Boys’ Ice Hockey Takes a Loss

Wrestling

The Guilford wrestling team hosted Amity on Feb. 5 and won 41-33. Andrew Plancon earned a win by fall at 113 pounds (2:27), and Killian Thompson won at 126 pounds by a 9-5 decision. Alex Uzzo (132 pounds) won by a 12-1 Major Decision, while Hyde Jacobson earned a victory at 138 pounds by fall (4:49).

Elijah McDermott landed in the winning column at 144 pounds, when he won by fall at 1:15. Jonah Labbadia-Colon (190 pounds) won by fall at 0:57. Tim Hastings won by a 10-2 Major Decision in the 215-pound bout, and Logan Murphy competed at 285 pounds and won by fall at 1:35.

Back on Jan. 13, the team competed vs. the JV All Stars and won 60-17. Wins for the Grizzlies came from Dante Bilskis at 120 pounds (by fall at 2:24), Thompson (by fall at 126 pounds), Uzzo (by fall at 132 pounds), and McDermott (by fall at 2:44 in the 144-pound bout). Owen Pelletier-Stephens also recorded a victory at 150 pounds (by fall at 1:27), while Jean-Paul Meguerditchian (175 pounds) won by fall at 1:06. Labbadia-Colon earned a victory by fall at 190 pounds, and Hastings (215 pounds) won by fall at 1:02. Murphy recorded a win at 285 pounds by fall (2:10).

Boys’ Ice Hockey

Guilford boys’ ice hockey hosted East Haven Co-op on Feb. 7 and lost 4-0. Brett Pattison manned the net, allowing four goals on 62 saves.

Scholar Athletes

The SCC Conference recently announced its Scholar Athletes for the Fall 2023 season. For Guilford, Samantha Alberghini (volleyball) and Coleman Love (cross country) earned the honors.
