East Haven wrestling hosted Daniel Hand on Feb. 5 and won 45-36. Jack Fletcher won at 120 pounds by fall (0:54), while Gonul Celik won at 126 pounds by a 12-10 decision. Alphonse Milano (150 pounds) won by fall at 3:33, and and Joe Allen won the 215-pound bout by fall (5:16).
Boys’ Ice Hockey
The East Haven Co-op boys’ ice hockey team traveled to Guilford on Feb. 7 and won 4-0. Mike Savo got the Yellowjackets on the board in the first period, with an unassisted score. Lorenzo Defilio also added a goal in the first frame, assisted by John D’Albero. Cameron Lacroix knocked in a goal in the second period, with Savo and Nick Perillo on the assists, and Landon Cantele found the net in the third period, assisted by Perillo. Mike Fritz had a great game in net, allowing zero goals on 27 saves.
Scholar Athletes
The SCC Conference recently announced its Scholar Athletes for the Fall 2023 season. For East Haven, the honor was earned by Richard Ackom-Brew (football) and Nicole Brown (volleyball).
