Indoor Track Competes in Conference Championship, Boys’ Basketball Earns a Big Win

Indoor Track

The Morgan boys’ and girls’ indoor track teams competed in the Shoreline Conference Championship at Hillhouse on Feb. 2. Michael Fusco medaled in the 300 meters, placing fourth with a time of 37.67, and Julia White medaled in both the 55 (sixth place with a time of 8.12), and in the 300 (third place with a time of 46.25).

On the boys’ side, Mike Derenzo finished in eighth in the 55 (7.32), while Owen Lombardi claimed 22nd in the 1600 (5:25.92). Kaleb Richardson also ran the 1600, finishing in 30th place with a time of 5:46.49. The boys’ 4x200 relay team, consisting of Aidan Campion, Fusco, Derenzo, and Mark Rodriguez, finished in seventh place with a time of 1:41.40. In the long jump, Campion (16-08.50) placed 14th, and Rodriguez (16-02.50) took 16th.

On the girls’ side, Rachel Spaziano finished the 300 in eighth place (49.27), and Natalie Estabrook ran the 1600, which she finished in eighth place with a time of 6:13.78. In the long jump, Gabriella Navarra (12-06.00) took 20th place, and Estabrook (12-01.75) took 25th place.

Boys’ Basketball

The Morgan boys’ basketball team hosted East Hampton on Feb. 6 and won 72-40. Mason Krott went off for 28 points to lead the Huskies. He was followed by Jack Nye with 20 points, and Robby Estabrook, who scored 14 points. Other point scorers included Patrick O’Neil (two points), Ryan Donadio (two points), Kolby Clifton (two points), Griffin Ranaudo (two points), and Noah Cinquino (two points).

Boys’ Ice Hockey

The East Haven Co-op boys’ ice hockey team traveled to Guilford on Feb. 7 and won 4-0. Mike Savo got the Yellowjackets on the board in the first period, with an unassisted score. Lorenzo Defilio also added a goal in the first frame, assisted by John D’Albero. Cameron Lacroix knocked in a goal in the second period, with Savo and Nick Perillo on the assists, and Landon Cantele found the net in the third period, assisted by Perillo. Mike Fritz had a great game in net, allowing zero goals on 27 saves.
