Girls’ Ice Hockey Wins Three, Boys’ Basketball Takes Two Losses

Boys’ Basketball

Valley boys’ basketball played host to Cromwell on Feb. 6 and lost 59-44. Rex Grabowski’s 17 points led the Warriors, and Noah Dolinsky added 15 points. Tommy Troy (four points), Paul Giantonio (two points), Olivia Cunningham (two points), and Jack Driscoll (four points) also provided offensive production.

On Feb. 9. the Warriors hosted Haddam-Killingworth and lost 61-53. Dolinsky had 18 points to lead the way, followed by Conor Quinn with 15. Other point scorers included Driscoll (seven points), Giantonio (four points), Grabowski (seven points), and Troy (two points).

Boys’ Ice Hockey

The East Haven Co-op boys’ ice hockey team traveled to Guilford on Feb. 7 and won 4-0. Mike Savo got the Yellowjackets on the board in the first period, with an unassisted score. Lorenzo Defilio also added a goal in the first frame, assisted by John D’Albero. Cameron Lacroix knocked in a goal in the second period, with Savo and Nick Perillo on the assists, and Landon Cantele found the net in the third period, assisted by Perillo. Mike Fritz had a great game in net, allowing zero goals on 27 saves.

Girls’ Ice Hockey

The Hand girls’ ice hockey co-op team traveled to Amity/Cheshire/North Haven on Feb. 7 and recorded a 5-1 win. Hannah Rich opened the scoring for the Tigers, with an unassisted goal in the first period. Kendall Dobratz also scored a goal, assisted by Maggie DiNapoli. Reagan Wyrebek-Brasky recorded two goals in the contest. One was assisted by Dobratz, and the other was assisted by Daniella Spaniotis. Faith Minickene also added a score (assisted by Taylor Manchanda). Chloe Monaghan manned the net for Hand and recorded 26 saves.

On Feb. 8, the team hosted Fairfield Ludlowe/Warde and won 5-0. Minickene had two goals in the contest. One was assisted by Wyrebek-Brasky, and the other was assisted by Dobratz. Dobratz also added two goals and one assist. Her first score was assisted by Brooke Ouellette, and the second one was unassisted. Wyrebek-Brasky also added a goal, assisted by Minickene.

The Tigers closed out the week on Feb. 10, hosting Guilford Co-op and winning 5-1. Minickene scored two goals. The first one was assisted by Rich, and the second one was assisted by Wyrebek-Brasky. Dobratz added an unassisted goal, and Rich added a score, assisted by Dobratz. Wyrebek-Brasky added to the score, with Minickene on the assist.
