Boys’ Basketball, Boys’ Ice Hockey Both Land in the Winning Column

Boys’ Basketball

The Morgan boys’ basketball team traveled to Portland on Jan. 29 and won 46-33. Robby Estabrook and Jack Nye in double digits, with 14 points and 13 points, respectively. Other scorers included Patrick O’Neil (six points), Ryan Donadio (seven points), Kolby Clifton (four points), and Mason Krott (two points).

On Jan. 31, the team traveled to Cromwell and lost 58-53.

The Huskies hit the road to Haddam-Killingworth on Feb. 2 and won 63-40. Nye’s 18 points led the way for Morgan, followed by O’Neil, who added 17. Donadio was also in double digits, with 10 points. Other players to get on the board included Luke McComiskey (six points), Clifton (two points), Krott (eight points), and Kyle Kobelt (two points). O’Neil was on a roll from behind the arc, hitting five three-pointers.

Wrestling

On Jan. 31, the Morgan wrestling team played host to East Haven and lost 63-18. Hayden Darr won at 106 pounds by fall, and Nathaniel Kinser won by fall at 126 pounds. Cameron Anderson (138 pounds) also won by fall.

Boys’ Ice Hockey

The East Haven boys’ ice hockey team hosted Lyman Hall on Feb. 3 and won 2-1. Both goals were scored in the first period. John D’Albero got the Yellowjackets on the board first, with assists from Lorenzo Defilio and Preston Cantele. Defilio knocked in the team’s second score, with Griffin McGlinchey and D’Albero on the assists. Mike Fritz manned the net for East Haven, allowing one goal on 23 saves.
