The Amity/Cheshire/North Haven girls’ ice hockey team traveled to West Haven/SHA on Jan. 22 and grabbed a 2-1 win. Lucy Dickenson scored both goals, and one was unassisted, while the other one was assisted by Emelia Brandi. Kylie Schwab recorded 41 saves in net for the team.
The team then traveled to Mercy/Northwest Catholic/East Hampton on Jan. 27 and fell 4-1. Brooke Donovan scored the lone goal for the Blades, and it was assisted by Maybelle Caron. Ivy Massicotte recorded 23 saves in net.
Fencing
North Haven fencing hosted North Branford on Jan. 18. The boys won 22-5, and the girls won 25-2. On the mens’ side, epee went 4-5, foil went 9-0, and sabre went 9-0. For the women, epee went 7-2, foil went 9-0, and sabre went 9-0. Fiona Gao was a top performer on the day, going 3-0.
On Jan. 22, the team played host to Hopkins School. The boys lost 18-9, and the girls won 14-13. Mens’ epee went 5-4, while foil went 3-6 and sabre went 1-8. On the womens’ side, epee went 5-4, foil went 5-4, and sabre went 4-5. Top performers who went 3-0 on the day included Ayla Sivri, Rachel Adams, and Matt Kompare. Haram Lee earned his first varsity win for men’s foil, while Adams earned her 50th career win to pace the women’s foil squad.
Three days later, North Haven played host to Daniel Hand. The boys lost 19-8, and the girls lost 17-10. The men’s foil team and women’s sabre squads both earned victories on the day, led by Ben Pollio (3-0) and Anita Sajan (3-0).
On Jan. 27, the Nighthawks traveled to the North Branford Invitational. It was a great day overall, with the women's teams going 3-0 and the boys going 2-1 on the day. The boys beat Simsbury 18-9 and North Branford 21-6, but dropped to Cheshire 11-16. The women started the day with a 20-7 win over Cheshire, then followed up with a 22-5 win over Simsbury, and a 25-2 win over North Branford. The men’s foil, women’s sabre, and women’s epee squads all finished 3-0 on the day. Sajan and Angela Lin went 6-0 on the day for the girls, and Pollio went 6-0 for the boys.
