Boys’ Basketball, Girls’ Basketball Have Tough Weeks

Boys’ Basketball

The Westbrook boys’ basketball team traveled to Morgan on Jan. 23 and fell 80-30. Maurice Whalen led the way with 14 points, followed by Tyler Casula with seven points. Matthew Downe (four points) and Kyle Leandri (three points) also contributed.

Girls’ Basketball

Westbrook girls’ basketball had a tough week, going 0-3. On Jan. 23, the team hosted Morgan and lost a tough battle, 52-37. Leticia Pires led the way, with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Anna Landino chipped in 12 points, and Kayla Presley scored four points, with four rebounds and four assists. Natalie Palumbo added four points, four assists, and four rebounds.

The team then traveled to East Hampton on Jan. 25 and lost 44-13.

The Knights ended the week hosting North Branford on Jan. 27, where they took a 52-25 loss. Landino had nine points and 11 rebounds, and Pires had seven points and 14 rebounds.
