Boys’ Ice Hockey

The North Branford boys’ ice hockey team hosted Guilford on Jan. 8 and lost 4-2. The Thunderbird skaters poured on the offense, putting a total of 43 shots on the Guilford goaltender, who rejected all but two late in the third period. Assistant captain CJ Sherwood scored both goals, with the first one coming on a feed from Michael Matteo, and the second one being assisted by captain Nickie Ryszczyk.

North Branford then hosted South Windsor on Jan. 13, grabbing a 2-1 win. The explosive Thunderbirds Power Play was the highlight, fueling the team to the victory. Sherwood scored first for the Thunderbirds, with assists being credited to Chris Maisano and Jack Maley. Maley then took a shot on goal late in the game, but the shot was saved and senior Jake Pedersen buried the rebound to put North Branford up for good.
