Just over a year following a near-fatal bike crash in Nov. 2022, John Bysiewicz's unwavering determination and relentless spirit propelled him towards recovery. Overcoming life-threatening injuries, including the amputation of his left leg below the knee, Bysiewicz has spent countless hours in and out of the hospital, as well as completing numerous therapy sessions with Gaylord Physical Therapy to regain strength and mobility.
Bysiewicz, the proud owner and operator of JB Sports, a Branford-based event company established in 1989, has been a cornerstone of athletic events throughout Connecticut. His events have raised nearly $50,000,000 for local Connecticut charities and non-profit organizations. His stewardship has seen the successful coordination of nearly 1000 running and walking events, fostering a culture of fitness and community engagement.
For over 25 years, Bysiewicz has served as the Race Director of the esteemed Branford Father's Day Road Race, and for nearly 20 years, he has dedicated his expertise to directing the Branford Thanksgiving Day Race. His commitment to these events has not only showcased his passion for sports, but also exemplified his dedication to fostering a strong sense of community in Branford.
On a memorable Thursday night in November, John Bysiewicz was joined by over 15 close friends and family members as he graciously accepted this esteemed honor. Their presence not only highlighted the profound impact of Bysiewicz's contributions, but also served as a testament to the support and admiration he has garnered within the community.
