11/15/2023 10:47 AMThe North Haven High School Athletic Department is excited to announce the appointment of Lauren Perrone as the new head coach for the Greater New Haven boys’ swim and dive co-op team. This co-op team includes students from the high schools in East Haven, Guilford, North Branford, and North Haven (the host school) and is entering its fifth year.
Lauren previously started her coaching career at the Hopkins Club Swim Team, and was the assistant swim coach at St. Joseph’s High School. Currently, Lauren coaches at Amity Regional Aquatic Club, and is the assistant swim coach at Southington High School for the girls’ swim and dive team. Lauren is Level 1 and Level 2 certified with the American Swimming Coaches Association. This past season, Lauren worked closely with Southington’s head coach to design and implement the “Whole Athlete Initiative” which encourages swimmers to train not only their bodies, but their minds as well.
Athletic Director Steve Blumenthal stated, “Coach Perrone brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our co-op swim and dive program. We look forward to Coach Perrone working with our student-athletes from all four towns to help them reach their potential, both in and out of the pool.”
As an athlete, Lauren attended Amity High School, where she swam competitively all four years. She also was a part of Amity Regional Aquatic Club and Hopkins Club Team. In 2014, Lauren was the Team Captain of a Swim Across the Sound Team, which challenges participants to swim from Port Jefferson, New York to Captain’s Cove in Bridgeport, Connecticut to raise money for St. Vincent’s Medical Center. In college, Lauren was an active participant for High Point University’s Club Swim Team.
Currently, Lauren is a licensed social worker and is employed by New Haven Public Schools and BHCare.
