Girls’ Volleyball Advances to Semifinals While Girls’ Soccer Falls in Quarters

Valley field hockey opened Class S State Tournament play as the No. 20 seed. In the qualifying round on Nov. 4, the team lost to No. 13 Haddam-Killingworth by a score of 1-0, a game that ended in a shootout.
Girls’ Soccer
Girls’ soccer landed a spot in the Class S State Tournament as the No. 15 seed. In the first round on Nov. 6, the Warriors defeated No. 18 St. Bernard by a score of 5-2.
On Oct. 8, Valley traveled to face No. 2 Ellis Tech in a second-round matchup and pulled off a massive 9-0 upset.
The Warriors advanced to the quarterfinal round, in which they squared off with No. 10 Cromwell on Nov. 10 and fell in a hard-fought, 1-0 contest.
Girls’ Volleyball
Valley girls’ volleyball started the Class S State Tournament as the No. 7 seed. In the first round on Nov. 6, the Warriors hosted No. 26 International and won 3-0.
In the second round on Nov. 8, Valley hosted 10th-seeded St. Paul Catholic, and again blanked the opponent 3-0.
The win sent Valley to the quarterfinals, in which they faced No. 2 Montville on Nov. 10 and grabbed a 3-0 victory.
