Field Hockey Coasts into State Semifinals, Football Takes Down a Rival

North Branford football traveled to rival Morgan-Old Saybrook-Westbrook on Nov. 10 and won 37-24. Current team leaders for the Thunderbirds include Tommy Hansen in Rushing Yards Per Game (179.9) and in Total Yards Per Game (182.7). AJ Sigel is the team leader in Passing Yards Per Game (31.3) while Aidan Chittenden leads the squad in Tackles Per Game, with 10.6. Hansen is also in the lead in Sacks Per Game with 0.6, and in Points Per Game with 17.7.
Field Hockey
After producing a strong season that led to a seventh-straight Shoreline Conference title, the North Branford field hockey team sat as the No. 1 overall seed in the Class S State Tournament. In the first round on Nov. 7, the Thunderbirds hosted No. 17 New Fairfield and won 2-0.
Two days later in the quarterfinal, North Branford played host to No. 9 Lauralton Hall and grabbed a 5-4 victory.
Girls’ Volleyball
North Branford girls’ volleyball entered the Class S State Tournament as the No. 17 seed. In the first round on Nov. 6, the Thunderbirds traveled to No. 16 Goodwin Tech and won 3-0.
North Branford traveled to top-seeded Bulkeley on Nov. 8 and pulled off a 3-0 upset.
In the quarterfinal round on Nov. 10, the Thunderbirds traveled to No. 8 Holy Cross and came up just short by a score of 3-2.
