Valley Cross Country Makes an Impact at Conference Championship, Girls’ Soccer Wins Two
Football
On Oct. 20, Valley/Old Lyme football hit the road to Coginchaug/Hale Ray/East Hampton and lost 29-18.
Boys’ Soccer
Boys’ soccer hosted Morgan on Oct. 16 and lost 3-1. On Oct. 19, the Warriors traveled to Cromwell and fell 4-1.
Girls’ Soccer
The girls’ soccer team hit the road to Morgan on Oct. 17, where the team suffered a 3-0 loss. Two days later, Valley hosted Cromwell and won 4-1. The Warriors ended the week on Oct. 21, traveling to Montville and recording a 4-1 victory.
Field Hockey
The Valley field hockey squad traveled to Haddam-Killingworth on Oct. 17 and fell 1-0. The next day, the team hit the road to Somers/Rockville Co-op, where they also took a 1-0 loss.
Girls’ Volleyball
Valley girls’ volleyball hit the road to Haddam-Killingworth on Oct. 16, recording a 3-2 win. Two days later, the Warriors played host to Old Lyme and won 3-0, before hosting North Branford the next day and ending the week with a 3-2 win.
Boys’ Cross Country
The Valley boys’ cross country team raced in the Shoreline Conference Championship on Oct. 19 and placed ninth as a team with a score of 234. Zackary Scott took 23rd place with a time of 17:46.30. Oliver Proctor finished in 49th place (19:47.00). Other finishers for the Warriors included Jonathan Howley (53rd place, 20:00.10), Aidan Babek (54th place, 20:10.80), and Avi Siegel (55th place, 20:11.00). Lyle Pitman finished the race in 57th (20:14.20).
Girls’ Cross Country
Valley girls’ cross country competed in the Shoreline Conference Championship on Oct. 19, where they took seventh as a team with a total score of 150 points. Holly Board finished the race in 16th place, recording a time of 20:58.60. Sadie Eselin took 31st (22:33.50), and Campbell Massey took 35th (22:56.80). Rowan Herlihy (38th place) had a time of 23:35.10. Sonya Xaypanya was next for the Warriors, coming in 46th place in a time of 24:13.90. Morgan Toth finished the course in 57th place, with a race time of 27:02.70.
