North Branford Football Grabs a Win, While Field Hockey Has a Strong Week

North Branford football played host to Haddam-Killingworth on Oct. 20 and won 48-36. Thomas Hansen scored six touchdowns to lead the Thunderbirds. AJ Sigel also recorded a 47-yard touchdown run.
Field Hockey
Thunderbirds field hockey hosted Watertown on Oct. 16 and won 5-0.
Then, on Oct. 19, the team traveled to Westbrook/Old Lyme Co-op and grabbed a 6-1 victory. Goals for the Thunderbirds were scored by Keana Criscuolo (two goals, one assist), Sophia Toto (two goals), Tea Ferrucci (one goal, one assist) and Dakota Kaminski.
Boys’ Soccer
The North Branford boys’ soccer team took a 5-0 loss at Portland on Oct. 16.
Girls’ Soccer
Girls’ soccer hosted Portland in its lone game of the week on Oct. 17 and lost 8-1.
Girls’ Volleyball
North Branford girls’ volleyball hit the road to Old Lyme on Oct. 16 and grabbed a 3-1 win. Two days later, the T-Birds traveled to Coginchaug and won 3-0. The team ended the week with a 3-2 loss at Valley Regional on Oct. 19.
Boys’ Cross Country
On Oct. 19, the North Branford boys’ cross country team competed at the Shoreline Conference Championship meet. Taylor Bliven took 64th place in the race, with a time of 21:33.20.
Girls’ Cross Country
North Branford girls’ cross country took eighth place as a squad at the Shoreline Conference Championship on Oct. 19, with a score of 205. Emma Preiss took 23rd with a time of 21:56.10, while Marina Dowson took 40th (23:47.40) and Sophia Sorrell followed her in 41st (23:49.70). In 60th place was Star Colon (27:46.70) and Skye Pancak (30:16.60) claimed 63rd. Cassidy Navarrete (30:31.40) took 64th.
