North Haven Field Hockey Posts a Shutout; Volleyball Squad Defeats Hillhouse


Field Hockey

North Haven field hockey traveled to Lauralton Hall on Oct. 10 and lost 6-1. On Oct. 11, the team hosted the Pink Game vs. the boys’ ice hockey squad. On Oct. 14, the Nighthawks hosted Morgan and posted a 6-0 shutout over the Huskies.

Girls’ Volleyball

Nighthawks girls’ volleyball hit the road to Hillhouse on Oct. 11 and grabbed a 3-0 win.

Two days later, the team traveled to Daniel Hand and lost 3-2. Grace Battipaglia recorded five aces, two kills, 34 assists, and 12 digs. Avery Berney had two aces, 12 kills, and 16 digs for North Haven. Ava Carlson added 20 kills and three blocks.

Girls’ Soccer

Girls’ soccer started the week at Mercy, losing the contest 2-0 on Oct. 10. Three days later, the team hit the road to Sacred Heart Academy and lost a tight 1-0 game.

Boys’ Soccer

North Haven boys’ soccer opened the week at Guilford on Oct. 9, where the Nighthawks lost 2-0. Goalkeeper Joseph Morocho recorded eight saves in the game.

On Oct. 14, the Nighthawks hosted Wilbur Cross and were edged out by a 3-2 score.

Girls’ Swimming and Diving

On Oct. 9, North Haven girls’ swimming and diving traveled to Daniel Hand and lost 89-73. Scarlett Russek won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:28.03. Amelia Bautz claimed first place in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.57) for the Nighthawks. The 400 freestyle relay team of Madisen Karavas, Morgan Nunez, Angelina Valentino, and Giada Garofalo (4:20.78) won the race.
