Morgan Football Posts 40-0 Road Victory; Girls’ Soccer Picks Up Points with Two Draws

Football

Morgan-Old Saybrook-Westbrook football traveled to Coginchaug/Hale Ray/East Hampton on Oct. 13 and recorded a 40-0 victory in the contest.

Boys’ Soccer

On Oct. 9, Morgan boys’ soccer hosted Old Saybrook and lost 4-1. On Oct. 13, the Huskies hosted Hale-Ray and won the game by a 4-0 score.

Girls’ Soccer

Morgan girls’ soccer traveled to Waterford on Oct. 10 and tied 1-1. Sadie Passante scored the Huskies’ lone goal, and Sam Way recorded five saves in the game.

Three days later, the team hit the road to Daniel Hand, where they tied 1-1 again. Passante scored for the Huskies, and Way made eight saves in net. Kate Gardner assisted on both Huskies’ goals last week.

Field Hockey

The Morgan field hockey team played host to North Branford on Oct. 10 and fell 7-0. Two days later, the team hosted Westbrook/Old Lyme Co-op and lost 4-0. The Huskies ended the week on Oct. 14, when they traveled to North Haven and took a 6-0 loss.

Girls’ Volleyball

Girls’ volleyball hosted East Hampton on Oct. 11 and lost 3-0. Two days later, the Huskies traveled to Hale-Ray and took a 3-1 defeat.

Cross Country

Morgan boys’ and girls’ cross country competed in the Bellringer Invitational in East Haddam, and the team was awarded five medals to runners who finished in the top 20.

For the boys, Owen Lombardi took 11th place (22:06), while Wyatt Luke finished in 13th place with a time of 22:19. Lucus Hoadley came in 19th place (24:24). Anthony Strunjo had a finishing time of 25:13, Drew Auletta finished in 25:17, Robby Estabrook finished in 26:07, and Peter Fortin-Roth ran a 32:05.

On the girls’ side, Natalie Estabrook took eighth place with a time of 26:23. Gavin Gersz finished in 10th place (26:49), while Shania Weisse ran a 34:11. Charlotte Racho rounded it out with a 39:23.
