Hand football traveled to Hillhouse on Sept. 29 and won 17-0. Paul Calandrelli threw a touchdown pass on one attempt. Jack Shay had nine passing attempts for 11 yards of offense. Aidan Dolan led the team in rushing yards with 146 over 33 carries and a touchdown, while Owen Preskar recorded eight total yards on two receiving. Kenny Carter had six total tackles in the contest, and 1.0 sacks. Jack Healy also kicked a successful field goal to add to Hand’s point total.
Boys’ Soccer
The Hand boys’ soccer team played host to Fairfield Prep on Sept. 26 and the game ended in a 1-1 tie. Two days later, the Tigers hosted Wilbur Cross and ended in another tie, this time with a 2-2 score.
Girls’ Soccer
The girls’ soccer team traveled to Amity on Sept. 27 and won 3-1. On Sept. 29, Hand hosted Cheshire and won 2-0.
Field Hockey
Hand field hockey traveled to Hamden on Sept. 26, where the team won 7-3. On Sept. 29, the Tigers hosted Sheehan and recorded a 7-1 win.
Girls’ Volleyball
Tigers volleyball played host to Sheehan on Sept. 26 and recorded a 3-2 victory (25-23, 19-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-12). Junior libero Julia Gallo recorded 21 digs and two aces. Senior Mia Thomas, middle blocker, had 14 kills, while senior captain Arianna Takyar, outside hitter, recorded 20 digs, eight kills, three aces, and one block. Senior captain and setter Ella D’Urso had 28 assists, seven digs, three kills, and three aces, including the match-winning point.
Two days later, the team traveled to Hamden and also won 3-2 (25-21, 25-13, 21-25, 21-25, 15-11). Junior Margeaux Langille, outside hitter, had nine kills, two aces, and two blocks. Junior Taylor Ferraiolo, defensive specialist, had 10 digs, while Thomas recorded six digs, 10 kills, and three aces. Junior Grace Hall, setter/defensive specialist, had five digs, nine assists, and five aces. Takyar recorded 14 digs, 10 kills, and five aces, including two aces to win the match.
