Guilford Boys’ Soccer Splits the Week, Girls’ Volleyball Wins Two

Football

On Sept. 22, Guilford football grabbed a commanding 50-19 win over RHAM. Tyler Hilgert went 15/20 with 300 yards, five touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown. Trevor Ridley had five receptions, 150 yards, and three touchdowns, while Jake Jahnige had three receptions (88 total yards) and one touchdown. Joe Tafro recorded three receptions, 40 yards and one touchdown, and Caden Hillier picked up 11 rushes, 110 yards and one rushing touchdown. Kevin Smith rushed for five yards on 40 total yards.

Boys’ Soccer

The Guilford boys’ soccer team traveled to Wilbur Cross on Sept. 26 and won 2-0. The Grizzlies’ first goal was scored by Wyatt Sprenkle and assisted by Nico Jarrin, and Daniel Perez also found the net for a score, assisted by Owen Medvecky. Jameson Benben recorded three saves in goal, and Anthony Malatesta recorded one.

Then, on Sept. 30, they hit the road to Fairfield Prep and lost 2-0. Benben recorded two saves in net, and Malatesta also recorded two.

Girls’ Soccer

Guilford girls’ soccer hosted Sheehan on Sept. 26 and won 6-0.

Field Hockey

On Sept. 28, Guilford field hockey hosted Shelton and won 6-0. On Sept. 30, the team traveled to Glastonbury and took a 1-0 loss.

Girls’ Volleyball

Grizzlies girls’ volleyball played host to North Haven on Sept. 26 and won 3-1. The next day, they traveled to Jonathan Law and added another win to the record, this time defeating the opponent 3-0.
