Morgan Girls’ Soccer Wins a Trio and Boys’ Soccer Splits the Week

Football

Morgan-Old Saybrook-Westbrook football hosted Capital/Achievement on Sept. 22 and won 56-28. Casey Corrigan currently leads the team with 86.0 rushing yards per game, while Tyler Baldwin leads in passing yards per game (223.5) and total yards per game (260.5). The leader in total tackles per game is Jack Nye (7.5), while Ethan Lane leads the team in sacks per game (0.5). Nye’s 11.0 points per game is the team leader.

Boys’ Soccer

The Morgan boys’ soccer team traveled to North Branford on Sept. 19 and won 11-0 in blowout fashion. Goals for the Huskies were scored by Jonny Gutierrez (4), Jeremy Medranda (2), James Guzman (2), Cinar Yucel, Emiliano Miranda, and Jack Bousquet. Gutierrez, Miranda, and Edyn Ortiz all recorded assists. Liam Totten manned the net for Morgan.

On Sept. 22, the team hosted East Hampton and fell 3-2.

Girls’ Soccer

On Sept. 18, the Morgan girls’ soccer team hosted North Branford/Hale-Ray and won 7-0. Goals for the Huskies were scored by AJ Luke (2), Maeve Madura, Sadie Passante, Cora Deming, Kate Gardner, and Olivia Ruotolo.

On Sept. 21, the team traveled to East Hampton and recorded a 3-0 win. In this game, Riley Febbriorello, Rachael Spaziano, and Lillian Tanner all scored.

Two days later, they played host to Stonington and won a close 2-1 contest. Passante and Madura were responsible for Morgan’s goals. Madura scored the game-winner unassisted with 12 minutes remaining in the game. Ainsley Lyon earned a team-high fifth assist on the first goal, a header from Passante in the fourth minute.

Field Hockey

The Morgan field hockey team traveled to North Branford on Sept. 19 and lost 9-0. Two days later, they hit the road to Westbrook to face the Knights, falling 8-0.

Girls’ Volleyball

On the volleyball court, the Huskies played host to Hale-Ray on Sept. 18 and lost a tight 3-2 match. The next day, Morgan traveled to Coginchaug and fell 3-1.
