09/25/2023 02:17 PMOn Monday, Oct. 9, most schools will be off in recognition of Columbus Day. On that day, Madison Hoop Dreams (MHD) is offering a basketball camp at Polson Middle School at 302 Greenhill Road in Madison. The camp is for boys and girls in grades 3-8 and will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Following an approximate hour of skill development, the kids will play games the for rest of the day until Coach Rich Pagliuca, “The Candyman,” arrives to teach campers some offensive moves and a variety of picks to get teammates open, as well as how to properly utilize a pick.
This will be a day of competition and fun. With coaches Brett Zanardi, Bobby Moore, Tyler Boris, and Kyle Hoffman, every player will receive personal instruction and leave the gym with more knowledge, more confidence, and a greater love of basketball.
MHD is limiting its enrollment to 60 campers and encourages people to register early. MHD draws from about 20 towns with the majority of campers coming from Madison, Guilford, and Old Saybrook. The cost to participate is $50 for the day, with a cost of $45 per child for any family sending two children. With three or more children, the cost is $40 per child. MHD is also holding its School of Basketball clinics every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. at the Polson School.
