09/25/2023 02:18 PMThere will be a celebration held for the 50th anniversary of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) Field Hockey State Tournament, which began in October 1973, as well as the Old Saybrook High School (OSHS) 1973 field hockey team. The event is taking place at the Vicky G. Duffy Pavilion at 155 College Street in Old Saybrook on Saturday, Oct. 21, featuring a social at 6:30 p.m., a speaker at 7:30 p.m., and other remembrances of the 1973 OSHS field hockey squad that qualified for the first tournament.
The speaker will be Rob Penfield, an author and former news reporter for the Farmington Valley Herald, who will recollect the development of the first CIAC Field Hockey High School State Tournament in October 1973. His story became a book entitled, A Life of Obstructions.
There will be light refreshments and beverages served at this event. The cost to attend is $25 per person.
