Guilford Football Wins in Dominant Fashion, Boys’ Soccer Wins Two

Football

Guilford football traveled to Foran on Sept. 14 and won 56-12. Caden Hillier recorded three rushing touchdowns in the contest. Rocco Barbera recorded 14 total tackles for the Grizzlies.

Boys’ Soccer

Boys’ soccer hosted Xavier on Sept. 12 and won 2-1. Both goals for the Grizzlies were scored by Owen Medvecky. In the first half, his goal was assisted by Ryan Melillo and, in the second half, Wyatt Spenkle was credited with the assist. Anthony Malatesta recorded six saves in net.

On Sept. 15, the team traveled to North Haven and grabbed a 4-1 victory. Andres Gutierrez posted a goal and assist in the game, while Sprenkle, Medvecky, and Pierce Pappert also scored. Melillo added an assist in the win. Jameson Benben (one save) and Malatesta (two saves) played goal for Guilford.

Girls’ Soccer

Guilford girls’ soccer hosted Branford on Sept. 12 and won 3-2. Then, on Sept. 14, the team played host to Amity and won 2-1. The next day, the Grizzlies hit the road to face Lauralton Hall and grabbed a 6-0 victory.

Field Hockey

The field hockey team played one game last week, hosting Daniel Hand on Sept. 13 and losing 1-0. Grizzlies goalie Eliza Chamberlain had 10 saves in the contest.

Girls’ Volleyball

Grizzlies girls’ volleyball bested Hamden 3-2 in a tight contest on Sept. 11. On Sept. 13, Guilford played host to Cheshire and lost 3-2. Finally, on Sept. 15, Guilford traveled to West Haven and grabbed a 3-0 shutout win.
