Guilford Football Wins Opener While Boys’ Soccer Splits the Week

Football

Guilford football opened the season on the road, as they traveled to Lyman Hall on Sept. 7 and walked away with a commanding 41-0 win.

Boys’ Soccer

On the soccer field, the Guilford boys’ team traveled to Daniel Hand on Sept. 7 and lost a tight, 1-0 contest. Anthony Malatesta and Jamison Benben each recorded one save in goal for the Grizzlies. On Sept. 9, the team hosted Morgan and won 4-1. Goals were scored by Andrew Jarrin (assisted by Dan Perez), Andres Gutierrez, Perez, and Gutierrez (assisted by Ryan Melillo).

Girls’ Soccer

The Guilford girls’ soccer team traveled to Daniel Hand on Sept. 7 and lost a tight 3-2 game to begin the season.

Field Hockey

The Grizzlies field hockey team traveled to face 2022 state finalist Stonington on Sept. 7, recording their first win of the season, 2-1. Both Guilford goals were scored by senior captain Tania Evans. Eliza Chamberlain manned the net for Guilford in the victory.

Girls’ Volleyball

On Sept. 7, the Grizzlies hosted Daniel Hand in volleyball and won 3-1. On Sept. 9, the team traveled to Amity and took a 3-0 defeat.
