East Haven High School Alumni Association Hall of Fame Inducting Seven All-Time Greats

The 36th annual East Haven High School (EHHS) Alumni Association Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, Oct. 28 at noon at Woodwinds, 29 Schoolground Road, Branford. Slated for induction are Judge Robert Devlin (‘68), Jason Rsyzczyk ‘(96), Anthony Rybaruk (‘98), Jamie DeDona (‘04), Robert Belevich (‘07), Vincent Guglietti (‘11), and Amanda Bradley ‘(13). Tickets are $45 and will go on sale on Friday, Sept. 1. Tickets can be purchased by sending a check payable to the EHHS Alumni Association, 103 Leigh Dr., East Haven, CT 06512. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Robert J. Devlin Jr. (Class of 1968)

After graduating from East Haven High School in 1968, Robert J. Devlin Jr. attended Southern Connecticut State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree with honors. He entered the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he earned his J.D., also with honors.

A lifelong resident of Connecticut, Robert served as a federal prosecutor for the Justice Department’s Organized Crime Strike Force. In 1992, the U.S. Attorney General recognized him for his work on a prosecution team that secured convictions among a New England mob hierarchy. He later served as Chief Administrative Judge for the Superior Court’s Criminal Division. In that role, he represented the Chief Court Administrator on policy affecting criminal matters, advising and assisting other judges assigned to criminal court and soliciting advice and suggestions from judges and others.

His judicial branch assignments included working on the Judicial Ethics Committee, co-chairing the Judicial-Media Committee, and chairing the Connecticut Sentencing Committee and the Criminal Jury Charge Committee.

He was appointed a judge of Connecticut’s Superior Court by Governor Lowell P. Weicker in 1992. In 2019, Governor Ned Lamont appointed him a judge of Appellate Court. In 2021, he was appointed to a four-year term as Deputy Chief States Attorney, Inspector General.

Amanda Bradley (Class of 2013)

During her time at EHHS, Amanda Bradley, Class of 2013, excelled as both a scholar and athlete.

Ranked among the top 5% of her class, Amanda graduated high school with honors and served as Secretary of the National Honor Society Chapter. She received a New Haven Tap-Off Club Scholar-Athlete Award and the University of Connecticut Book Award. Athletically, she was a standout four-year varsity performer in three sports: volleyball, basketball, and softball, lettering 12 times.

In volleyball, her senior year stats were 282 kills, 110 digs, 42 aces, and 23 blocks. She was named to both the All-Area Volleyball and the All-State Volleyball squads during her senior year, as well as being named a MaxPreps Player of the Week as a senior. Additionally, she achieved All-Division status in basketball during her junior and senior years.

Amanda’s pursuit of excellence continued during her college years at Marist College (Poughkeepsie, New York). She was an NCAA Division 1 volleyball player for four years, as well as a member of the college’s Student Government Association. She received a National Engaged Leader Award, was inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success, and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.

In 2017, she earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resource management, minoring in psychology. She currently heads the human resource department at a nonprofit agency that provides services to children and families throughout Connecticut. She was the assistant coach of the EHHS girls’ volleyball team in 2019 and 2020.

Anthony Rybaruk (Class of 1998)

Anthony Rybaruk, EHHS Class of 1998, was a two-year starter for the Easties’ football squad and lettered in both football and track. He recorded 212 career carries for 1,153 yards, leading the team in offensive scoring (18 touchdowns and 10 two-point conversions) for a total single-season record of 128 points. He was named the 1997 Boys Fall MVP for East Haven High School, as well as Team MVP. In 1997, he was named to the All-Conference Hammonasset Division for offense, as well as receiving an All-State Honorable Mention. Additionally, he was selected for the 1997 New Haven County All-Star Football Team.

In 2005, Anthony joined the East Haven Police Department, retiring in 2019 with the rank of sergeant. During his career in law enforcement, he served as a field operator for the South Central Regional SWAT Team, Direct Supervisor of the K-9 Unit, Field Training Officer, and a member of both the Dive and Rescue Team and the Peer Support Group. During his time on the force, he received multiple awards and unit citations.

Unfortunately, Anthony’s professional career came to an unexpected and abrupt end in May 2018. While being activated with the SWAT team for a domestic violence incident involving a barricaded subject, he and his fellow team members were ambushed by a large explosion triggered by the wanted suspect. The event received national media attention, and Anthony received a letter of recognition from former U.S. President Donald Trump. Following the incident, he also received the East Haven Rotary Club’s 2018 annual Public Safety Award and an official citation from the State of Connecticut General Assembly. In 2022, the East Haven Police Department awarded him a Purple Heart.

Jason Ryszczyk (Class of 1996)

Jason Ryszczyk, Class of 1996, was an outstanding member of the Easties’ football team, earning a well-deserved reputation as a strong, physical back and a great tackler on defense. During his sophomore year, he was named to the All-Area and All-Conference squads. During his junior and senior years, he achieved All-Area, All-Conference, and All-State status for his gridiron performance. He also became East Haven’s all-time leading rusher, was named the New Haven Gridiron Club’s “Player of the Year,” and received an EHHS Scholar Athlete Award.

During his football career, Jason gained 2,779 yards offensively. He rushed for 1,972 yards with 329 carries, then an EHHS record. 1995 was his career-best year, during which he rushed for 1,149 yards with 169 carries. From 1992 to 1995, he amassed 259 tackles.

Jason, an operations manager for Superior Entertainment for 23 years, is a proud father of four children. Over the last 18 years, he has nurtured his love of sports by coaching midget football and Little League baseball and softball. He now exclusively coaches National Travel Softball.

Jayme DeDona (Class of 2004)

While at East Haven High School, Jayme DeDona, Class of 2004, was a standout athlete in track and field. Jayme, who ranked third in his graduating class, was a four-time All-Stater, four-time conference champion in indoor/outdoor shotput, state champion in indoor/outdoor shotput, New England champion, and a New Balance All-American in indoor/outdoor shotput, and placed second in New England for outdoor shotput. He was also named New Haven Register 2004 All-Area MVP.

Jayme went on to Brown University, graduating in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. While consecutive injuries in his freshman year prevented him from competing in collegiate track and field, he remained active in intramural athletics and extracurricular endeavors, including leadership roles in his fraternity and graduating from the Nelson Leadership Institute.

Following college, Jayme joined TinyCo in San Francisco as a software engineering manager/lead software engineer. He later worked for Gremlin, Inc., also as a lead software engineer, before joining Electric Arts, his current employer, as a senior engineering manager. He now lives in Apex, North Carolina, leading Electric Arts teams based in San Francisco and Vancouver, British Columbia.

While located on the West Coast, Jayme lent his hand to the San Francisco Food Bank, mentored undergraduate computer science students, and volunteered for Dharma on Wheels, an offshoot of his interest in competitive cycling. Currently, he’s most passionate about disc golf, which he plays weekly.

Robert Belevich (Class of 2007)

Robert Belevich, EHHS Class of 2007, was a standout Easties athlete during his high school years.

A three-year starter on the football team, Rob made 100 tackles and two interceptions in nine games. During his senior year, he was named to both the All-State Class MM and All-Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC) Teams, as well as to the Levi Jackson All-Area Team, chosen by SCC coaches in New Haven and adjoining towns.

In track, he posted an indoor pole vault record of 10 feet 6 inches and the fourth-best 100-hurdles time in school history. In his senior year, he was All-SCC in the 55-meter hurdles, placed third in the Class MM schools, and finished ninth in the State Opens. He also made it to the SCC All-Academic Team during his final year at East Haven.

Ron graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 2017 with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics secondary education, becoming the first in his family to graduate both high school and college. He currently teaches math at East Haven High School.

Vincent Guglietti (Class of 2011)

Vincent “Vinny” Guglietti, Class of 2011, built a stellar record on the baseball diamond for the Easties. During his time on the team, he broke two school records, including the most hits in a single season (40) and the highest single-season batting average (.541). His career stats at EHHS were a .459 batting average, 79 RBIs, and 101 hits, including six home runs.

Vinny went on to play baseball for three years at Quinnipiac University (QU), where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2015. At QU, his career OPS (on-base plus slugging) percentage was .840, and he garnered 228 hits (fifth all-time), 18 home runs, and 132 RBIs. He also holds the all-time doubles record, with 49, and was a five-time QU Athlete of the Month. He was named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Week and to the All-NEC Second Team in 2012. In 2013, he was named the College Sports Madness NEC Player of the Week. In 2014, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) named him to the Second Team and as Player of the Week, the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) recognized him as an All-Star, and he was named to the All-Region Second Team and as QU’s MVP. In 2015, NEIBA again recognized him as an All-Star, he was named to the All-New England Second Team and All-Tournament, and he was again QU’s MVP.

Vinny went on to play independent professional baseball, competing in 323 games in the Can-Am, Frontier, and Pacific Association leagues from 2015 to 2019. He garnered the most single-season hits (105) with the Pacific Association and earned the Batting Title and a Gilded Glove for Top Defense at first base. In 2018, he achieved the highest OPS for first base (.804) in the Ottawa Champions’ history.

Vinny currently works at D-BAT, a premier baseball and softball training facility in Trumbull. He has more than 200 clients and provided 20,000+ hours of lesson time. He has garnered 40 college commitments and serves as a mentor for high school students working on their Capstone projects.
