Lumber 2 Leather Opens Facility in Old Saybrook

Lumber 2 Leather, a baseball and softball training company, has announced the opening of its 8,000-square-foot indoor training facility, located at 119 Spencer Plains Road, Old Saybrook. This facility, led by former Major League Baseball player and CT native Eric Campbell and designed by 78 Sports, will feature seven 60-foot batting and pitching tunnels with machines, a dedicated strength and conditioning zone, and a pro shop featuring top brands. The facility’s tunnel system is fully retractable to allow for an open 60 x 90-foot turf area for team practices, clinics, and other indoor instruction.

After completing a 14-year career in the major leagues with the NY Mets, Oakland Athletics, Miami Marlins, and Seattle Mariners, Campbell returned to Eastern Connecticut to found Lumber 2 Leather, offering private coaching of baseball and softball, sharing his passion and knowledge of the game with more than 500 players and coaches over the past two years. Lumber 2 Leather has also hosted multiple training camps and clinics, as well as group training for several travel organizations and Little League programs.

Eric’s ability to provide clear and concise instruction and create strong relationships with his players has been the catalyst to his success as a private coach. The new facility incorporates Campbell’s existing training techniques and adds more coaches to his training staff to accommodate baseball and softball pitching instruction, catching coaches, and fitness instruction. The facility will also provide Lumber 2 Leather’s current and future members with a home base for their daily workouts and direction from Campbell to bring their game to the next level.

Lumber 2 Leather will provide an exclusive experience for players to take advantage of individual instruction. Additionally, Campbell and other coaches will host weekly clinics and several camps throughout the year for players of all ages. The facility will offer appropriate instruction to players of all ages and skill levels.

They are now offering pre-sales on premium memberships at www.lumber2leather.com in anticipation of a September opening. Memberships will be limited to allow all members maximum use of the space in desired hours.
